IX. Successes in Progress

  • We have verified compliance of 70 enterprises
         (with 33,324 workers) with their own
         corporate codes of conduct, industry
         agreements (WRAP) particularly garments,
         and with ILO core standards
     

  • We have identified at least 136 brand
         names/codes of conduct and have placed
         their producers, contractors, and
         subcontractors under verification.

  • We "discovered" three codes of conduct in the
         dialect [Compliance of the single enterprise
         is under verification.]
     

  • We completed the survey for baseline working
         conditions on a random sample of 201
         enterprises (33,000 workers) in Bataan,
         Cavite, Laguna, NCR, Subic and Clark.
     

  • Initial results have been presented to DOLE,
         DTI, DILG, Ombudsman, codes independent
         monitors/codes oversight boards, others,
         for their information and action.
     

  • As by-product of our verification work,
    we have:

    • Collective agreements (CBAs) in two
           companies (1,125 workers, 864 women);

    • Unions in three companies are negotiating CBAs
           (627 workers, 392 women)

    • Won accreditation as exclusive bargaining
           agent in six other companies (480
           workers, 392women);
      Lost the election in two other companies
           (720 workers, 374 women);

    • Filed petitions for certification election (PCE)
           in nine other companies (5,156 workers,
           3,817 women);

    • Registered unions in five other companies
           (2,203 workers, 1,510 women).

WE BELIEVE UNIONS IN ENTERPRISES
ARE THE ONLY SUSTAINABLE WAY
OF VERIFYING COMPLIANCE WITH
NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL LABOR STANDARDS
