Construction material prices up in Sept.

PRICES of construction materials in Metro Manila rose for the second consecutive month in September, hurting government and households who will undertake rehabilitation following the damage caused by typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng. The National Statistics Office (NSO) said the retail prices of selected construction materials in Metro Manila went up at a slower pace of 0.3 percent in September from 0.4 in August. Construction slowdown

The Construction Industry Authority of the Philippines, through their officer-in-charge Engr. Sonia Valdeavilla, reports a drop in growth in construction of 8.2 percent in 2008, mainly due to a drop in public construction activities and a decline in public works capital outlays.
